Welch ("as Judge Weaver"), Duke Ellington (who did the music for this film and played the piano with Stewart in an uncredited role), and Brooks West NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that everyone agrees that this poster and "Vertigo" are Saul Bass' two best posters, and it has continued to surprise me that the Vertigo poster regularly sells for much more than this poster! Personally, I like this image just as much (or better) than the image on the Vertigo poster, and I also like this movie just as much (or better) than Vertigo! I think this is an imbalance in the "poster marketplace" that is sure to get corrected over time. I see no reason why one of these posters should sell for less than the other! Note that our consignor obtained this poster from a former theater owner, who showed this movie in his theater and then stored the poster away for many years, until now, which likely helps account for why it is in such nice condition! Also note that this poster is not marked, but it is NOT the style A poster, and since we know that there IS a style A poster on this title, we assume that this poster is the style B, so we are referring to it in that fashion. Condition: very good to fine. The poster has tiny separation at the bottom crossfold. It has tiny bits of surface paper loss in the 4" to the right of the top crossfold and the tiniest of creases on the top and bottom horizontal folds, with a tiny tear in the lower left blank border, and some minor creases around the edges. Otherwise, it is in really nice condition, with a "crisp" feel to it, as though it was only used once and then put away! Best of all, the colors are really bright (many examples of this poster have some degree of fading)! Learn More about condition grades
