An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm]) (Learn More) The Right to Romance, the 1933 Alfred Santell medical doctor plastic surgeon romantic melodrama (about a famous female plastic surgeon who meets a playboy and agrees to give up her profession in order to share his glamorous life, but she learns it is not so glamorous, and leaves him, returning to her medical practice) starring Ann Harding, Robert Young, Nils Asther, Sari Maritza, Irving Pichel and Helen Freeman. Note that Ann Harding is not well remembered today, but she was a major early film feminist of the early 1930s, often playing career women who recognize that they could have had a career of their own, and they could not leave a man to "complete" themselves. In this movie, as in many other of Harding's movies, the makers of the movie felt that the audience could not accept her solely choosing her career over her husband, so they gave her a doctor that she worked with, and the movie ends with her entering into a new romance with him, which softens the meaning of the movie quite a bit. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned three stills and a glass slide from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this title card, which not only is the first title card we have ever auctioned, but the first lobby card period! Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The top and right borders were mostly trimmed off. The card has tack holes, smudges, and small stains around the edges. There is staining down the left border and in the girl's forehead, with stains in the bottom border, and just a few other stains scattered in the image. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the smudges and stains can be removed through chemical means, and of course, most of the pinholes are in the blank borders, and after proper restoration (including replacing the parts of the missing blank borders), the card will display well. Please look closely at our images of the front and back of this card before bidding. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
