Date Sold 8/28/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Letter (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/2" [18 x 27 cm]) (Learn More) Corinne Griffith was a major leading actress from the 1910s to the 1960s. She was a very intelligent woman who invested heavily in real estate at just the right time, and when she passed away in 1979 at the age of 84, she was one of the wealthiest women in the world, with a fortune estimated at $150 million! Some of her movies include: The Garden of Eden, The Divine Lady (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Paradise Alley. In addition to acting, she wrote several books, most notably "Papa's Delicate Condition" in 1952, which was about her father, a Methodist minister. In 1963, she sold the rights to the movie version of the book, and she wanted Fred Astaire to play her father, but the studio chose Jackie Gleason, and she greatly disliked the movie! Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Corinne Griffith! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
