At the mercy of men without their women"; "Based on the Book by Agnes Newton Keith"; "Produced by Darryl F. Zanuck"; a true story written by a female author who was living in Borneo with her family, and they were captured by the Japanese, and her and her husband were put in separate prison camps, and she chronicles her difficult experiences; the commander of one of the camps is played by Sessue Hayakawa, who later had a similar role in "The Bridge on the River Kwai", and in neither movie is he presented as a one-dimensional monster, but rather as a man in a difficult situation doing the best he can) starring Claudette Colbert, Patric Knowles, Florence Desmond, Sessue Hayakawa, and Sylvia Andrew NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
