An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Parker & Watts Circus, the late 1930s circus poster ("Kit Carson Jr. Last of the famous Scouts and Indian Fighters") promoting a traveling circus and featuring art of cowboy Kit Carson. Because Ira M. Watts and Charles H. Parker purchased the Seal Brothers Circus in 1937 and renamed it "Parker and Watts Circus", and because the economics of the times and the start of World War II forced the Parker & Watts Circus to close in 1939, we therefore know for certain that this poster is from either 1937, 1938, or 1939! Also, since the "real" Kit Carson Jr. passed away in 1929, we don't know who this person was who performed at this circus, but it was likely either a different relative, or just someone using "Kit Carson Jr." as a stage name. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded across the middle. It had some tears on that fold and a few small tears scattered in the poster. There were tears and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, with paper loss in the bottom left blank corner that affected the small writing in the bottom right border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
