An Original 1949 (from the first release of this movie in Austria) Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6" x 8 1/4" [15 x 21 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Mr. Bug Goes to Town, the 1941 Dave Fleischer feature-length animated animation family musical insect comedy cartoon ("The screen's first full-length musical comedy cartoon"; "Produced by Max Fleischer") featuring the voices of Kenny Gardner, Gwen Williams, Jack Mercer, Tedd Pierce Carl Meyer, and Stan Freed. Note that Max Fleischer (along with his brother Dave) were legends and pioneers in animated films. They made the very first sound cartoon in 1924, beating Walt Disney by several years. They had great success with their Out of the Inkwell cartoons, Popeye, Betty Boop, and much more, including the Superman cartoons, widely regarded as the finest cartoons ever made! But after Walt Disney made Snow White, the Fleischers made Gulliver's Travels, which did not do well at the box office, and their next major project, Mr. Bug Goes To Town, had the bad fortune to be released two days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and it also did poorly. At this same time, the Fleischer brothers had a major falling out, and in 1942, they split completely. After they made the last of their Superman cartoons in 1942, Paramount ceased control of their studio. Each of the brothers made a few more cartoons, but their careers were essentially over. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was released in 1949 through the MPEA, which distributed movies in Germany, Japan, and Austria right after World War II until 1950 (a lot of the people who went to those movies were U.S. servicemen stationed in those countries). Also note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended).
