An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Second Hundred Years (also released as "The Second One Hundred Years"), the 1927 Fred Guiol silent screwball prison crime comedy (produced by Hal Roach; Stan and Ollie are hapless convicts who tunnel out of their cell, but instead of getting to freedom, they end up in the warden's office; after they finally escape, they then steal the clothes of visiting dignitaries, and they are mistaken for them, and they are delivered back to the prison, to give a speech) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), James Finlayson, Charlie Hall, Otto Fries, and Dorothy Coburn. Note that this was Laurel and Hardy's first movie for MGM, and for the first time, they were not "Stan" and "Ollie", but were instead named "Big Goofy" and "Little Goofy". Also, they had their heads shaved for this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of seven wonderful Laurel & Hardy stills from the late 1920s and early 1930s that we were consigned. Each comes from the same collection that contained eight other great Laurel and Hardy stills we auctioned in our last set of auctions (and the collection also contained the rare Gary Cooper stills from the same time period that we auctioned in some of our recent sets of auctions). Most of these stills have "PROPERTY OF THE B J NICKELODEON", which was apparently a theater that saved many stills from movies they showed in the late 1920s to the mid 1930s, which accounts for them being in such excellent condition. The collection was purchased by celebrity Johnny Crawford many years ago. Mr. Crawford first came to fame as the son in the TV series "The Rifleman" and later became a band leader loved movies, and early on he collected many stills and lobby cards. These rare early Laurel & Hardy stills were consigned to us from his collection! Also note that this still may have been trimmed, as it now measures 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm], but it may have been issued that way. Condition: good. The still has unevenly changed color, but it can still be displayed and enjoyed (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
