eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4d0108 MONTE CARLO lobby card bag 1930 from the Paramount Publix Corporation, ultra rare! Date Sold 4/16/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Lobby Card Bag (measures 12" x 15") (Learn More) Monte Carlo, the 1930 Ernst Lubitsch musical mistaken identity romantic gambling comedy ("By Ernest Vajda From 'The Blue Coast' by Hans Mueller and an episode from 'Monsieur Beaucaire' by Booth Tarkington and Evelyn Greenleaf Sutherland"; about a poor girl in Monte Carlo who poses as a wealthy woman and the rich man who poses as her personal assistant, which encompasses being a butler and a hairdresser, skills that he does not have, but he will gladly fake, because he wants to be close to her; their relationship is complicated by the very rich man who will accept her on any terms!) starring Jack Buchanan (incorrectly billed on the herald as "James Buchanan"!), Jeanette MacDonald, Claud Allister, Zasu Pitts, Tyler Brooke, and Frances Dee (in an early uncredited role as the receptionist!). Note that Ernst Lubitsch is well known for his masterful early 1930s movies with their perfect blend of comedy and romance that was called "The Lubitsch Touch", but many fans are unacquainted with this movie. If you haven't seen this delightful movie, do so now! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we are currently auctioning a complete set of lobby cards from 1930's "Monte Carlo", by the card. This auction is for the printed brown bag from Paramount that those eight cards came in (the bag is from 1930, but the name of the movie is not printed on it, because they used these bags for all their movies that year). Note that from the 1910s through the 1950s, lobby card sets were sent in brown bags that had the names of the movie and credits printed on the outside. The purpose of the bag was to protect the lobby cards, and they served that purpose well! Since the vast majority of lobby card sets get broken up and sold by the individual card, few of these original printed brown bags survive, except in the cases where someone preserved the entire set with the bag. We don't know if there are "brown bag collectors", but it certainly seems that the printed brown bag from legendary movies would be the most desirable, and ones from lesser movies would have lesser value! Condition: good. The bag has tears and tiny paper loss around the edges (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
