Date Sold 8/1/2023 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 5 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Womanhandled, the 1925 Gregory La Cava silent romantic screwball comedy ("[The Answer to 'Manhandled']"; "From the Saturday Evening Post story by Arthur Stringer"; a wacky story of a society playboy who meets a girl and falls in love, but she sees him as "soft", and she wants a real man like there are in the West, so he heads to a ranch, but finds that all the cowboys there have gone to Hollywood, and the only people left at the ranch are dudes like himself; so he hires some locals to pose as cowboys, but his girlfriend isn't fooled, but when he rescues her from a cattle stampede, she realizes he is a "real man"!) starring Richard Dix, Esther Ralston, Edmund Breese, Cora Williams, Olive Tell, and Margaret Morris. Note that the term "womanhandled" in the title refers to a man who was raised by women, and is not "manly". It seems to have completely vanished from modern vocabulary! Also note that the movie is a loose parody of a Gloria Swanson movie made the year before called "Manhandled", and the advertising for this movie included the tagline "The Answer to 'MANHANDLED'".
