An Original Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" [9 x 13 cm]) (Learn More)

The Mark of the Vampire, the 1935 Tod Browning horror thriller ("You will not dare believe... what your eyes see!"; "These two strange symbols meant 'marked for death'!"; "Important! Do not divulge the secret of 'Mark of the Vampire' to your friends... let them by mystified... and thrilled!"; based on the story 'The Hypnotist' by Tod Browning; about a father and daughter vampire team in an unnamed European country, and naturally, wherever they go, people are found dead) starring Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Bela Lugos (as Count Mora)i, Lionel Atwill, Jean Hersholt, Carroll Borland (as Luna, a female vampire; Borland was a huge Lugosi fan who wrote a script intended for him and appeared in this movie with him, which was only one of six movies she appeared in!), Holmes Herbert, and James Bradbury Jr. Note that director Tod Browning had incredible success with Dracula in 1931, but Freaks in 1933 was a major failure (at the time), and he was trying to regain his former glory with this movie, which was very loosely based on another major success, London After Midnight, which starred Lon Chaney Sr.!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this Spanish herald (we auctioned one of those examples twice), so this is only the third example of this Spanish herald we have ever auctioned! It is printed on a heavy postcard-like stock (we have seen just a few other 1930s Spanish heralds that were also on a heavy stock like this). Also note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front. Finally, this herald measures slightly shorter than one past example and has smaller top and bottom borders. It doesn't seem to be trimmed but the heralds may have been cut differently by the printer during different print runs. If it is trimmed, it only affects the blank top and bottom borders.

Condition: very good to fine.
