An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Secrets, the 1933 Frank Borzage California political romantic melodrama ("From the play 'Secrets' by Rudolf Besier and May Edginton"; "Scenario by Frances Marion"; set in the late 1800s, about the daughter of a rich New England banker who defies her father and elopes with a clerk in her father's office, and they move to California with no money, but they become quite rich, but then when the husband runs for governor, a secret from their past threatens to ruin him) starring Mary Pickford (in her final film), Leslie Howard, C. Aubrey Smith, Blanche Friderici, Doris Lloyd, Russell Simpson, and Ned Sparks NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, and very minor wear on the foldlines. There was a very faint vertical crease starting in the top border 2" to the right of the vertical foldline and running through Miss Pickford's hair and into her nose. There were creases, smudges, tears, and some small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and the very minor defects within the image area are not at all noticeable. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area).
