An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) The World At War, the 1942 Lowell Mellett World War II (WWII) political military documentary ("The United States Government Presents The World at War"; "Produced by the Office of War Information, Bureau of Motion Pictures"; "Distributed by War Activities Committee, Motion Picture Industry"). This was a 66-minute documentary produced by the government soon after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and was the creation of screenwriter Sam Spewack. It showed the events leading up to World War II, putting the blame squarely on the Japanese, Nazis, and Italian Fascists. The documentary was narrated by Paul Stewart, best remembered for his work in Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre, and he had a role in "Citizen Kane". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had creases and tears in parts of the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but the paperbacker did not do any restoration to the defects in the blank borders, likely rightfully assuming they will not show when the poster is framed.
