An Original Vintage Theatrical Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) The Prisoner of Shark Island, the 1936 John Ford Civil War era Presidential assassination prison crime convict melodrama ("This is the story of Dr. Samuel Mudd who for the crime of ministering to the wounds of Lincoln's assassin is confined to - Shark Island!"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; a fictionalized account of what happened to the doctor who innocently treated John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Abraham Lincoln, and how he was imprisoned due to the hysteria of the time) starring Warner Baxter (as Dr. Samuel Mudd), Gloria Stuart, Claude Gillingwater, Arthur Byron, O.P. Heggie (best remembered as the blind man who befriends the monster in "The Bride of Frankenstein", and also as the next door cellmate to Robert Donat in "The Count of Monte Cristo"), Harry Carey Sr., Francis McDonald (as John Wilkes Booth), Frank McGlynn Sr. (as President Abraham Lincoln), "and a cast of 1,000" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a special 40" by 60" poster that was created by the "Meloy Bros. Inc" company of Shelbyville, Indiana in 1935 and 1936! This company created special 40" x 60" posters that were distributed to theaters in the Midwest, and are NOT like 40" x 60" posters that were created by the studios at that time. VERY IMPORTANT! CLICK ON THIS LINK TO READ FULL INFORMATION ABOUT THESE SPECIAL POSTERS (do not bid on this set of five posters until you have read the information on the linked page). We will pack this poster between four super heavy 42" x 62" boards that we have purchased for $5 each, meaning that the cost of packaging this poster is $20 (because of the expense of the large cardboard). VERY IMPORTANT! This poster will likely cost around $100 total to send within the U.S. via ground UPS (but of course, we will only charge the actual cost of shipping) plus the above stated $20 for the packaging materials (we are also auctioning similar size posters that could be packed together with this one, and if so, the shipping per poster will come down drastically). Please bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster (and it would surely cost hundreds of dollars to send it out of the United States, so we ask that no one bid on this poster unless they can accept delivery of it within the U.S.). Condition: fair to good. The poster has surface paper loss and tiny paper loss around the edges (more so in the corners), and the poster is slightly "lifting" from the board in the corners. There are many creases, scuffs, smudges, and stains scattered throughout. Please bear in mind the defects this poster has, and also the cost of shipping, before placing a bid on it.
