An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (Spanish/US 1sh; printed in the U.S. for use with Spanish speaking audiences; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Brick Bradford: Amazing Soldier of Fortune, the 1947 Spencer Gordon Bennet science fiction (sci-fi) action adventure serial ("Based upon the King Features Syndicate's tremendously popular cartoon strip"; "Fiendish murder-trap!"; "A Columbia Serial"; "Another sizzling serial scoop... with another adventurer beloved by multi-millions of thrill fans!") starring Kane Richmond (in the title role "as Brick Bradford"), Rick Vallin ("as Sandy"), Linda Johnson ("as June"), Pierre Watkin ("as Salisbury"), Charles Quigley, John Merton, Noel Neill, and Wheeler Oakman. Note that this movie was based on a popular comic strip that debuted in 1933, which was written by William Ritt, a journalist, and drawn by Clarence Gray. It was pure science fiction fantasy, and it predated Flash Gordon by a year, but it never achieved the same kind of popularity in the United States, although it became quite popular in other countries, including Italy and France (where he was known as "Luc Bradefer", which is "Luke Ironarm"!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that it appears that this one-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (see below for more on this). We say "appears to be", because the poster is printed entirely in English, including all the small writing at the bottom, EXCEPT for the printing within the large square box at lower left, which is all Spanish. So this certainly could have been printed for use with Spanish speaking audiences, but it also could have been printed for use at all theaters showing chapters of this serial, and this one just happened to be used at a Spanish language theater. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also, note that a knowledgeable collector believes that Glenn Cravath created the art for this item. However, we cannot be 100% certain. If anyone has definitive proof such as signed original art, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good.
