An Original Vintage Unfolded Half-Sheet Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Holiday, the 1938 George Cukor romantic love triangle family relationship comedy ("If you had a million... Which sister would you pick to spend it with?"; "It's grand the way they prove that every day's a holiday... when you're in love"; "Out of heart-warming drama... smiles... and the tears always lurking behind them... a great love-and-laugh hit is born!"; "From the stage play by Philip Barry"; about a man who is engaged to be married, but just in time, he realizes he is far better suited to his fiancee's sister instead) starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Doris Nolan, Lew Ayres, Edward Everett Horton, Henry Kolker, Binnie Barnes, Jean Dixon, and Henry Daniell. Note that this was a remake of the 1930 movie of the same name, based on the same play. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that original 1938 U.S. posters on this movie are extremely rare. We had only previously auctioned a one-sheet and a window card until we received this half-sheet, which we have never auctioned before! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Finally, note that because this half-sheet was printed on a slightly heavier paper, it makes far more sense for it to be sent in a large flat package than rolled in a tube, because we are afraid that rolling it could cause damage to it, and we would hate for that to happen! We will only send it rolled in a tube if the buyer insists, and accepts full responsibility in case there is any damage to it. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has water staining in the left 8" of the top blank border, very slightly touching the green background in one area. It has a 1" tear in the right of the top border that has a piece of tape on the back. It has a few smaller tears and smudges around the edges and a few minor creases and scuffs scattered in the image. Since most of the defects are in the borders, the poster can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, restoration could be performed. Either way, the new owner will have an incredibly rare and desirable poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
