An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Band Wagon, the classic 1953 Vincente Minnelli romantic musical singing-and-dancing comedy ("Get Aboard The Band Wagon"; "MGM's Top Technicolor Musical!"; "Story and Screen Play by Betty Comden and Adolph Green"; "Songs by Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz"; "Hear the music in the M-G-M record album"; about a washed up singing dancing movie star who stars in a Broadway show with a co-star he hates) starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Oscar Levant, Nanette Fabray, Jack Buchanan, and James Mitchell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that most U.S. one-sheet posters for this film have an odd mistake in the credits. Director Vincente Minnelli is credited as the producer and the actual producer (Arthur Freed) is credited as the director! This mistake is even repeated on the 1963 re-release one-sheets but does not seem to affect any other U.S. posters. We don't know the specifics behind this crazy credit mix-up, but we imagine someone got into a lot of hot water over it! If anyone knows more about this error, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. The poster was framed, with corrugated cardboard backing the poster (but the poster was not attached to the board in any way). But the board did darken the back of the poster quite a bit, and the front of the poster a lesser amount, but the darkening is quite noticeable throughout the poster and in the white background areas. There is a 2" tear at the top crossfold with tiny paper loss and pinholes in the corners. THIS IS THE KIND OF POSTER THAT RESPONDS REALLY WELL TO EXPERT RESTORATION! It is likely that much of the darkening can be removed with a very light bleach during the linenbacking process, and after proper restoration, the poster will look fantastic, and there will likely be little restoration anywhere in the image area.
