An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Purchase Price, the 1932 William A. Wellman romantic love triangle mistaken identity mail order bride comedy ("She Took Another Woman's Place On Her Wedding Night..!"; "She lived violently and loved passionately"; "Based on the story 'The Mud Lark' by Archur Stringer"; about a sleazy mistress of a bootlegger who pretends to be a maid in order to get away from her boyfriend; she lets herself be a mail order bride, and is "sold" to North Dakota farmer George Brent, where she becomes a dutiful wife; her old boyfriend finds her, and gives her the money her husband needs to save the farm, but will he reveal her sordid past, and can she stay "good", or will she slip back into her wicked ways?) starring Barbara Stanwyck, George Brent, Hardie Albright, Lyle Talbot, and David Landau NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had fairly significant defects which were somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster had small paper loss at the top and middle crossfold and paper loss the size of a penny at the bottom crossfold; there were tears in the right of the middle foldline. The poster had missing pieces and tears in the blank borders, and the person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster was very nicely linenbacked, and it looks great! Learn More about condition grades
