An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Live Wire, the 1935 Harry S. Webb high seas sailing action thriller starring Richard Talmadge (billed as Dick Talmadge "Dare Devil of the Screen"), Alberta Vaughn, George Walsh, and Sam McDaniel. Note that Richard Talmadge was born "Sylvester Alphonse Metz", and he was an acrobat with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He got a job in Hollywood as a stuntman for Douglas Fairbanks Sr., and then graduated to starring in movies, always performing lots of stunts. He had two acrobat brothers, Otto Metzetti and Victor Metz, who appeared with him in some of his movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had creases and a few small tears on the foldlines and some creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The person who restored the poster did a good job of touching up the above basically minor defects. Overall, the poster looks nice, and the restoration is only noticeable from inches away.
