The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, the classic 1953 Roy Rowland children's musical dark fantasy ("The First Wonderama"; "In color by Technicolor"; "The wonder musical of the future!"; "Plus a Hit Parade of Songs"; ; "Songs you'll never stop singing!"; "T for tremendous! T for terrifying! T for terpsichore! T for tickles! T for tootlers! T for tunes! T for terrific!"; T for entertainmenT [spelled backwards]; "Screen Play by Dr. Seuss and Allan Scott"; about a boy forced to take piano lessons from a strange teacher, and he dreams of a bizarre world where the teacher tortures his students; the movie is very dark, but it was originally even darker in that it had an elevator scene where an executioner-like masked man takes people down floor by floor to a dungeon, and he calls off the torture devices on each floor, and that sequence was shortened!) starring Peter Lind Hayes, Mary Healy, Hans Conried (in the title role as Dr. Terwilliker), Tommy Rettig, and George Chakiris. Note that this movie soured Dr. Seuss on Hollywood and merchandising for many years until his death. The studio created a really cool special supplement to the pressbook (the supplement is quite rare!), which contains a massive section of tie-in promotional items, and that might have helped contribute to how Dr. Seuss felt about Hollywood (but I would give anything to have any original Happy Fingers beanie, or a hand puppet, or lollipop, or Hand-y Pants and Shirts, or scarves, or roller skates, or costume jewelry, or balloons, etc.; all these are real items that were advertised in the pressbook, but all of them are beyond rare and impossible to find!). Note that this movie was produced by Stanley Kramer. We did not know that until we saw a candid still with Kramer (we wonder why his connection to this movie never seems to get mentioned!).

Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. The right 1" of the pressbook is "rolled", and there are small tears and creases scattered down the right edge of all pages and some darkening on the left edge of the back cover, but otherwise, the pressbook is in pretty nice condition!
