A 1952 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Wake of the Red Witch, the 1949 Edward Ludwig romantic seafaring sailor action adventure thriller ("Garland Roark's Famous Sea Story!"; "The book that sold a million copies!"; "Based on the Novel by Garland Roark"; "Based on Garland Roark's Famous Best-Selling Novel"; "The penalty for molesting a girl of the Gilbert Islands!"; "The penalty for defying the world's toughest captain!"; "A flashing knife against the villain of the depths"; "A lawless drama of ruthless men ...driven together on a South Sea island by the winds of hatred, greed and passion!") starring John Wayne, Gail Russell, Gig Young, Adele Mara, Luther Adler, Eduard Franz, Grant Withers, Henry Daniell, Paul Fix, Jeff Corey, Duke Kahanamoku, and Henry Brandon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Republic Pictures did something VERY "sneaky" when they decided to re-release this movie in 1952, just three years after the original release. They printed more posters, EXACTLY like the 1949 posters (we know of one-sheets and three-sheets, but there were likely other sizes as well), and they were surely printed from the original plates, because they are exactly identical to the originals in every way, EXCEPT that they changed the litho number on both the one-sheets and three-sheets they printed in 1952, and the position of the studio logo changed, and really oddly, they put the 1949 NSS on the 1952 re-release one-sheet, even though it was not on the 1949 one-sheet! The poster offered here is one of the 1952 re-releases, that looks exactly identical to the 1949 poster, except for its different litho number. This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: fair. The two pieces of the poster were once taped together and there are stains in that area. The poster is extremely fragile and there are separations, tiny tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of many foldlines. The poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look great, and will likely need little paint restoration within the image. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its very significant defects and are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
