Artist: Ralph McQuarrie Important Added Info: Note that this sticker, which was made in 1976 with Ralph McQuarrie art, measures 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" (it was also made in a 4" x 5" size). It is a "crack 'n peel" sticker (this one was never peeled). The initial working title for this movie was "The Star Wars", and the iconic later lettering had not yet been decided on, so this sticker has block letters with the working title. Ralph McQuarrie drew this art in early 1976, when the movie was about to begin shooting. They were used on the set by the crew, most notably on the Panavision magazines in which the film was stored. At some point early on, some of these stickers made their way into the collectors' market (it is rumored that they came from Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz!). They are incredibly rare. We auctioned a matted set of one of each side of the stickers, but otherwise, we have never auctioned any of either size until we were consigned this excellent condition unpeeled example of the smaller size. Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! This item is one of the additional 117 items that we were consigned from other collectors. They REALLY came through with wonderful additional items that really add to the overall auction! If you are interested in knowing more about the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction, CLICK HERE to read a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection! Condition: very good to fine. The sticker was never peeled and is in excellent condition! Learn More about condition grades
