The Assam Garden, the 1985 Mary McMurray English relationship melodrama (about an Englishwoman who lived in India for many years, but returns to England when her husband dies, and she develops a relationship with an Indian woman and her family) starring Deborah Kerr, Madhur Jaffrey, Alec McCowen, Zia Mohyeddin, and Anton Lesser. Note that this movie came out around the same time as David Lean's "A Passage to India", and it covers similar ground, with the relationship between people from England and people from India.
