An Original Vintage French Book Plate (measures 12" x 16") (Learn More) Firmin Bouisset was a French painter, poster artist and print maker from the 1890s to the 1920s. Bouisset worked for several French food companies, including: Menier, Maggi and Lefevre-Utile (his poster for their butter biscuits is still used today!). He passed away in 1925 at the age of 65. Artist: Firmin Bouisset Important Added Info: L'Estampe Moderne appeared in 1897 - 1899 as a series of 24 monthly fascicles, each of 4 original lithographs, and printed by Imprimerie Champenois of Paris. Many accomplished European Art Nouveau painters contributed works to this publication. The lithographed prints had as blind stamp or embossed device, the imprint of a young woman's profile in the lower right corner. The prints are much sought after in the current art world. The aim was to promote the art of printmaking by commissioning images from noted Art Nouveau artists, such as Alphonse Mucha, Louis Rhead, Marcel-Lenoir, Henri Boutet, Henri Fantin-Latour, Edward Burne-Jones and Theophile Steinlen.
