An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Color 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Movie Still #7 (Learn More) The Four Musketeers, the 1974 (released in the U.S. in 1975) Richard Lester Panamanian/Spanish romantic France swashbuckling adventure comedy ("What could be better than The Three Musketeers?"; "it's four for fun and fun for all!"; "Based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas") starring Oliver Reed ("as Athos"), Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain ("as Aramis"), Michael York ("as D'Artagnan"), Christopher Lee ("as Rochefort"), Faye Dunaway ("as Milady"), Charlton Heston ("as Cardinal Richelieu"), Frank Finlay ("as Porthos"), Geraldine Chapline, Jean Pierre Cassel, and Simon Ward. Note that crafty producer Alexander Salkind signed his actors for ONE movie, but made it EXTREMELY long, and then had it edited into TWO movies, and released them as "The Three Musketeers" and "The Four Musketeers", but paid his actors for only ONE movie! The actors sued him, and they received SOME extra money, but not as much as they would have had they been paid for two movies! Finally, note that when they first decided to divide the movie into two parts, they apparently originally planned on making each of them "The Three Musketeers", but with the first part being named "The Three Musketeers: The Queen's Diamonds", and the first release presskit shows that. However, they likely knew that would cause the actors to sue, so they dropped the "The Queen's Diamonds" and simply released it as "The Three Musketeers", and changed the second part to "The Four Musketeers". Note that this lobby card was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and he also had correspondence with many famous celebrities which he saved. In addition, he would sometimes ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles or from other reputable Hollywood book stores and poster shops (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these autographed lobby cards we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from reputable Hollywood book stores, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this lobby card is authentic! Condition: very good to fine. Note that this still is in excellent condition and is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
