An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt, the 1943 Alfred Hitchcock family relationship crime film noir ("From an Original Story by Gordon McDonell"; "Screen Play by Thornton Wilder"; about a family whose uncle comes to town to visit, and he charms his niece, but at the same time, some widows start being murdered, and the niece suspects her uncle) starring Teresa Wright, Joseph Cotten, Macdonald Carey, Patricia Collinge, Henry Travers, Wallace Ford, and Hume Cronyn NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases and tears 2" to the right of the top foldline, running down the entire length of the poster. There was paper loss near the middle of those tears, in the "K" and "S" of "HITCHCOCK'S", and in the background area between the two letters, and just above and below them. There was quarter-sized area of paper loss in the background area to the right of the "Y" of "CAREY" in the credits. The poster had been slightly trimmed on all four sides, losing approximately one half of each blank border. There were tears and small areas of paper loss in the right half of the middle foldline, and a 4" vertical tear in the background above the "U" of "DOUBT" (starting at the middle foldline). Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking (it had many defects, but the images of Cotten and Wright at the bottom of the poster were pretty unaffected, and most of the defects are in the blank borders, and down the center of the top half of the poster). The poster was quite nicely backed. You can see only very slight signs of the restoration, and I had to study it extremely closely to see what was done. And yet the poster in no way has a "heavily restored" look to it, and I would think the vast majority of collectors could never tell the extent of the restoration this poster has had, even looking at it from a fairly close distance!
