Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Dig Up, the 1922 Craig Hutchinson silent comedy short (produced by Hal Roach) starring 'Snub' Pollard, Marie Mosquini, Charles Stevenson, Wallace Howe, and Mickey Daniels (IMDb doesn't credit him, but he appears on a lobby card). Note that the one-sheet poster for this movie has a great stone litho of Snub Pollard and Marie Mosquini, and Pollard is smoking a cigarette through a spigot from a wine or whisky barrel (which looks to be his own invention, and of course, it might not be tobacco he is smoking)! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Shortly after it was printed, the three sections were glued together onto a brown "kraft" paper (this is called "kraftbacking"). This was commonly done in the 1920s to help posters stay in one piece as they traveled from theater to theater. This poster is one of 9 posters that were recently discovered under a floor of a very old house (in the 1920s it was common for builders to use old movie posters as insulation between walls and under floors!). THIS POSTER HAS MAJOR CONDITION DEFECTS, WHICH SHOULD BE EVIDENT FROM THE IMAGE BELOW. It can be professionally restored, but that can take a fair amount of money, so bear the restoration costs in mind BEFORE you place a bid on this item!

Condition: good. Because this poster spent the last 70+ years under a floor of a house, it has considerable damage (see the image below). A talented professional restorer can easily remove the poster from its kraft backing, but to then restore the damaged and missing areas might take a good amount of time and money, so bear that in mind BEFORE you place a bid. Of course, realize that this may well be the only surviving example of this poster, so you may not have the option of waiting for a better example to come along!
