An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Sky Rider, the 1928 Alan James silent airplane aviation inheritance family relationship action thriller (about a man trying to kill his relatives so he can gain an inheritance; he does so by planting a bomb in a plane they are riding in, and apparently an incredible dog named Champion helps save the day, including jumping from one airplane to another!) starring Champion the Dog (a very talented German Shepherd!), Gareth Hughes, Josephine Hill, J.P. Lockney, and John Tansey. Note that Champion the Dog was top billed in this movie and one other (The Silent Sentinel, made the following year). Based on the poster for this movie, it seems clear Champion was a truly remarkable dog (and he was billed as "The Knight of the Air" on the Belgian poster), but we can find no information about him, or why he only appeared in two movies (and oddly, even though he is top billed in both movies over the human actors, the plot summaries we have found barely mention him at all!). We have only previously auctioned a Belgian poster (9 years ago) from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this lobby card!
