He would often appear briefly in his own movies as a gag. Some of his movies include: Rear Window (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), North By Northwest, Psycho (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Vertigo, Strangers on a Train, Notorious, Rebecca (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Shadow of a Doubt, The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes, The Birds, Dial M for Murder, Lifeboat (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Spellbound, The Man Who Knew Too Much (he made this one TWICE!), The Trouble with Harry, and many, many more! AND Francois Truffaut was a French actor, writer, and director from the 1950s to the 1980s. He was a French film critic who made his first movie, "Les Quatre cents coups" (The 400 Blows), about his troubled childhood, and together with Godard, they gave birth to the French "New Wave".
