An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Howard Hawks' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the classic 1953 Howard Hawks romantic musical son-of-rich-man-loves-beautiful-wacky-showgirl-and-his-father-does-everything-to-break-them-up comedy ("The two M-M-Marvels of our age in the wonder musical of the world!"; "Based on the musical Comedy by Joseph Fields and Anita Loos"; "Music and Lyrics by Jule Styne and Leo Robin"; "Presented on the Stage by Herman Levin and Oliver Smith") starring Jane Russell (as Dorothy Shaw), Marilyn Monroe (as Lorelei Lee), Charles Coburn (as Sir Francis 'Piggy' Beekman), Elliot Reid, Tommy Noonan, George Winslow (the little boy with the super deep voice, billed as "George 'Foghorn' Winslow"), Marcel Dalio, Taylor Holmes, Norma Varden, Howard Wendell, and Steven Geray NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster was never folded. There were some creases, a couple of pinholes, and some tiny tears in the borders, a few faint scuffs in the images, and a few smudges in the white background areas. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking (it appears the person had it linenbacked primarily for preservation purposes, and not to restore defects). The poster was well backed, and looks great! Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
