An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 3/4" x 15 1/2" [27 x 39 cm]; 30 pages) (Learn More) Miracle on 34th Street (released in other English-speaking countries as "The Big Heart"), the classic 1947 George Seaton New York City Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade heart-warming Christmas holiday family romantic legal lawyer melodrama ("Story by Valentine Davies"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a man who insists he is the one and only Santa Claus, and he ultimately proves that he is!) starring Maureen O'Hara (as Doris Walker), John Payne (as Fred Gailey), Edmund Gwenn (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Kris Kringle, the real Santa Claus!), Gene Lockhart (as the judge who would be committing political suicide if he rules there is no Santa Claus!), Porter Hall (as Mr. Sawyer), William Frawley, Jerome Cowan (as the District Attorney), Philip Tonge (as Julian Shellhammer), Natalie Wood (as Susan Walker, the little girl who doesn't believe in Santa Claus), Alvin Greenman (as Alfred), Harry Antrim (as Mr. Macy), Herbert Heyes (as Mr. Gimble), Thelma Ritter (as Peter's Mother), Jack Albertson (as the Post Office mail sorter), and James Seay (as Dr. Pierce). Note that in an ironic twist, this all-time Christmas favorite was not viewed favorably by studio chief Darryl F. Zanuck. He did not think it would do well, and so he had it released in June, rather than the obvious December, and he instructed the publicity department to "hide" the fact that it was a Christmas movie! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut, and it was never folded. It has small paper loss in the top right corner of the cover and the first interior page.
