An Original Vintage Studio Brochure (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) MGM 1929, the 1929 8-page studio brochure ("The Truth About Talkies") which gives information about movies that MGM had set to release in 1929. Of course, the entire country was talking about "talking movies", and this brochure was all about MGM's forays into talkies. Included is a section on Hal Roach, which includes a picture of a Laurel and Hardy one-sheet (Unaccustomed As We Are), and also an image of the Our Gang kids, whose first talking movie was Small Talk. At this time (and also for a few years before and for a few years after), MGM also presented this kind of information in small booklets called "Screen Forecast", which were much smaller but had more pages, so they likely contained the same amount of information as this brochure. We don't know if they made larger versions like this in other years. This brochure was printed and distributed direct to theaters, but it likely was also included in exhibitor magazines as a supplement.
