An Original Vintage Photographic Camera Original Negative (measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a Universal Studios negative that was in the camera when their photographer shot the photo. We have put a scan of the negative that shows the "positive image" (in addition to a scan of the negative image). REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU RECEIVE WILL BE A PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE, NOT A POSITIVE IMAGE LIKE YOU ARE SEEING. However, we will provide the winning bidder of this auction that positive image scan that is both high quality and not watermarked (on request to the winning bidder, and only the winning bidder). We scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is. It came in a plastic sleeve and will be sent to the winner of the auction in that. These often (but not always) have retouching on the emulsion side, and negative numbers written in India ink on the front. This camera original negative was purchased by our consignor in Profiles in History "Hollywood Auction 44", where it was lot #818 (the winning bidder will be sent the original "property tag" from Profiles in History, where it was estimated to sell for $1,000 to $1,500), and our consignor paid $1,000 for it (not counting the buyer's premium), but it is being auctioned here with no reserve! Note that we previously auctioned four similar negatives that were also purchased in the same auction in our July Major Auction, and those four sold for prices between $1,766 and $342! Condition: very good. See both of our images to get a sense of the exact condition of this camera original negative. Learn More about condition grades
