An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Three-Sheet (called a 6sh in England) Movie Poster (3sh; measures 39 3/4" x 88 1/4" [101 x 224 cm]) (Learn More) Everything in Life (released in the U.S. as "Because of Love"), the 1936 J. Elder Wills English mistaken identity romantic musical opera comedy (real life opera star Gitta Alpar plays a woman who wants to be in an opera written by a composer played by a super young Neil Hamilton, but he is not interested, so she pretends to be a poor girl and gets him to fall in love with her, never realizing she is the famous star) starring Gitta Alpar, Neil Hamilton (star of many 1920s and 1930s movies, but he is probably best remembered as Commissioner Gordon in the 1960s Batman TV series), Lawrence Grossmith, H.F. Maltby, and Gerald Barry. Note that Gitta Alpar was a Hungarian Jewish opera singer who first appeared in 1923 at the age of 20. She had great success over the 1920s, and she married actor Gustav Frohlich (one of the stars of Metropolis), but in 1935, her marriage was dissolved by the government as "illegal" because she was Jewish and Frohlich was not, and she was put on "Hitler's hit list" along with other top Jewish celebrities who left Germany, and she went to Austria and then Hungary, and then England, where she made this movie. She then went to the U.S. and continued her singing career. She passed away in 1991 at the age of 88. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this English poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie, and that was 14 years ago! Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II English poster! Virtually no English posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in England during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this English three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good. Someone put white paper tape on the back of several of the folds that were separated and also on the back of a few tears on the folds. Otherwise, the poster has survived in pretty nice condition, especially considering its age. Learn More about condition grades
