An Original 1965 (from the first release of this movie in East Germany) Vintage Theatrical Folded East German Movie Poster (measures 16" x 22 1/2" [41 x 57 cm]) (Learn More) The Intruder, the 1962 Roger Corman racial tension melodrama ("The picture that dares to portray our morals as they really are."; "What act would call a woman to say 'I Hate Your Guts'"; "We have the courage to show it... have you the courage to see it..."; "The public is entitled to know is there more prejudice in the North or the South?"; "The picture that calls a spade a spade."; produced by Roger Corman) starring William Shatner, Frank Maxwell, Beverly Lunsford, Robert Emhardt, Jeanne Cooper, Charles Barnes, Charles Beaumont, and George Clayton Johnson. Note that based on newspaper theater ads, this movie was re-released as I Hate Your Guts as early as 1963, and continued to be released under that title to at least 1967. Also in 1966, it started to be released as a sexploitation movie called "Shame" (often as a double-bill with Poor White Trash), and that continued into 1967. Many 1966-67 newspapers ads specifically mention "TV's William Shatner" or "TV Star William Shatner" to cash in on his success as Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Oddly, Shatner's name and image do not appear on the re-release posters that we have seen, so we can't definitely date them. It has been suggested that this is because Shatner threatened legal action, but in a 1966 newspaper interview, Shatner said that he was unaware that the movie had been re-released and only discovered it after a friend told him. Both re-release posters may be from 1966 (and this is even more likely with Shame), but to be safe, we are calling them 1960s re-releases. Also note that the writer of the movie, Charles Beaumont (a writer for The Twilight Zone TV show), appeared as an actor in the movie, and his fellow Twilight Zone writer, George Clayton Johnson, also appeared as an actor in the movie!
