An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26 3/4" x 40 1/2") (Learn More) A New Melody Master Bands, the 1940 Vitaphone musical short subject series. Apparently, this series began in 1932, and Vitaphone made a stock one-sheet that year. They apparently made a completely different stock one-sheet every other year until at least 1948! The ones we have seen are from 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1948 (so we know the series ran for at least those years!). If anyone knows more about this series, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Vitaphone for use for all entries of their "Melody Master Bands" series. Theaters would order this poster, which had a blank area at the bottom. They would be sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had many creases and tears scattered throughout, including several in the bottom of the title area and some in the hat and head of the girl. There were creases and tears on some foldlines, and some pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the restoration of the above defects (more so from a close distance, and they are not very distracting from a reasonable viewing distance).
