An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Presskit (measures approximately 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; contains 4 supplements, and 1 still) (Learn More) Charmian Carr was an actress who was "plucked from obscurity" in 1964 when she was chosen to play the "16 going on 17" Liesl in "The Sound of Music" (even though she was 22!). She had no prior acting or singing experience, but her family was in music for many years, including her two sisters. In 1968, after touring to promote the movie, she left acting and started a family, but in the 1970s, she appeared in over 200 TV commercials, and has run an interior design business for many years. She wrote two books about her Sound of Music character. In 1999, she appeared at a special showing of the movie called "Sing-a-Long Sound of Music", which had a successful run in big cities all over the world. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Charmian Carr! Also note that we have taken a picture of the cover of the presskit and the signed still. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. Condition: very good to fine. Many of the presskits we are auctioning this week were carefully stored away for many years, and the stills are in really excellent condition.
