An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 13 1/2" x 22" [34 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Over the Hill, the 1920 Harry F. Millarde silent family relationship poverty melodrama ("The Greatest Human Story of All Times"; "250 Million People Will See 'Over the Hill' Will you be among the missing?"; "A Picture That Will Live Forever"; "One solid year in New York. 10 months in London. 6 month in Chicago. 6 months in Boston"; "From the poem by Will Carleton"; about a mother who does all she can to keep her children out of poverty, and faces going to the poorhouse) starring Mary Carr, James Sheridan, Noel Tearle, Stephen Carr, and William Welsh. Note that, as was common at this time, this movie solely played in New York City for one year, and only then went on to tour the country. We don't know what posters were created for that 1920 limited release, but surely any surviving posters are from the 1921 continuous release. Also note that the IMDb lists this movie as "Over the Hill to the Poorhouse", but the original advertising for it simply lists it as "Over the Hill", so we think the IMDb is incorrect. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that Mary Carr became a major star in the mid 1910s around the age of 40, playing the parts of saintly mothers. She continued to make movies (switching to grandmother roles) through the mid 1930s, and then continued with mostly uncredited parts until the mid 1950s. She passed away in 1973 at the age of 99! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The card has many tears around the edges with some tiny paper loss and someone put tape on the back of all the tears. There was missing paper in the left of the bottom border and in the bottom right corner, and someone replaced the missing area in the left. They likely also replaced the missing area in the right corner, but it later became detached and is gone. There is a 6" crease near the bottom center of the card and a few other creases and scuffs scattered in the image. Learn More about condition grades
