An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo, the 1937 Eugene Forde Monaco Asian detective mystery crime gambling casino thriller ("Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers"; "Original Story by Robert Ellis and Helen Logan") starring Warner Oland (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Keye Luke (as Lee Chan), Virginia Field, Sidney Blackmer, Harold Huber, Kay Linaker, and Robert Kent. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! Important Added Info: Note that the lobby card offered in this auction is one of eleven different Charlie Chan lobby cards (from eleven different movies!) that we are selling this week on eBay, in eleven separate auctions! Not only does every card feature Chan, but most have close images of him! Best of all, all of the cards are in nice condition (several are near perfect), and none of the cards have the slightest restoration of any kind (not a single piece of tape anywhere on any card)! Condition: very good to fine. The card has two pinholes in the top corners and one in the left of the top border. There is a pinhole in the background area at top center. There is one pinholes each in the bottom corners of the image. There is one pinhole in the center of the right edge of the image, in the bushes. There are two tiny dot stains on Oland's neck. There is tiny paper loss in the bottom left blank corner and a tiny tear in the top left corner. Other than the above truly minor defects, the card is in quite nice condition!
