eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4z080 SPARROWS insert '26 great close up of Mary Pickford smiling with young boy! Date Sold 2/18/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Sparrows, the 1926 William Beaudine silent southern swamp child labor orphan slavery crime thriller (a wild story set in the "southern swamplands", where a crazy man, his half-witted wife, and his evil son run a "baby farm" for unwanted children, but they mistreat them brutally; the oldest of them is Mary Pickford, who tries to protect all the children, telling them that God will care for them just as he does for "sparrows", and she calls them her sparrows; she has a confrontation with the owner, fighting him with a pitchfork, and she escapes with all the children into the alligator-ridden swamp; in the exciting climactic scene, the creepy family all drown in the swamp, and Mary and all the kids are adopted by an eccentric millionaire!) starring Mary Pickford, Roy Stewart, Mary Louise Miller, Gustav von Seyffertitz, and Charlotte Mineau. Note that Mary Pickford was 34 years-old, and still playing teenage girls (just a couple years later, she would wisely give this up and switch to adult roles). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is very old and fragile, and attempting to roll it would surely damage it. Therefore we will only send it in a very large flat package. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: poor to fair. There is paper loss and staining in the bottom 3" of the poster, and in the top right corner, and some small stains scattered around the rest of the edges, and a few scattered throughout the image (see our image). There is an 8" tear in the top that extends diagonally through Pickford's hair and into her cheek. It is extremely fragile. This poster certainly could be restored, but bear this expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
