An Original Vintage Autographed Souvenir Program Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 175 pages) (Learn More) Walter Matthau was an actor from the 1950s to the 2000s. Like many actors, he worked for many years in films before achieving much success, but unlike most actors, he started as a character actor, and his sheer talent made him a leading man many years later! Some of his movies include: The Odd Couple, Sunshine Boys (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Kotch (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Fortune Cookie (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), A Face in the Crowd, Charade, Fail-Safe, and The Bad News Bears AND Jack Lemmon was an actor from the 1940s to the 2000s. Some of his movies include: Save The Tiger (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Apartment (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Some Like It Hot (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Mister Roberts (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Days of Wine & Roses, The Odd Couple, Missing (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), China Syndrome (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and many more! He had an extremely distinguished career, and he was equally talented in dramatic and comedic roles, and he alternated between them throughout his career. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is the very large square-bound souvenir journal that was created for the 1981 National Artist Award given to James Stewart) has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Walter Matthau AND Jack Lemmon on the cover. The book itself is a really nice tribute to James Stewart (it has approximately 175 pages), with a complete heavily illustrated history of every one of his movies, and in the front and back of the book are many testimonials to Mr. Stewart from friends and co-workers like then-President Ronald Reagan and many others. Also note that we have only pictured the front cover from this program book. Included with the book is a newspaper clipping from when Mr. Stewart died in 1997, plus two copies of the program for the ceremony of the event (each measures 8 1/2" x 11" and is on a heavy paper stock). Our consignor's cousin is an actor who attended the event, and he obtained the autographs of Matthau and Lemmon in person while at the event. Getting both autographs of these stars together is rare, and this program book itself is also rare! Condition: good to very good. The book is square-bound, and there is weakness at the spine near the middle of the book, and there are a few scuffs on the covers. Otherwise, the book is in pretty nice condition!
