An Original 1938 (from the first release of this movie in Belgium) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 33 1/2" [61 x 85 cm]) (Learn More) Vivacious Lady, the 1938 George Stevens opposites-attract romantic comedy (about a rich college professor who marries a beautiful nightclub singer, and he has trouble "explaining" her to his snobby family) starring Ginger Rogers, James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), James Ellison, Beulah Bondi, Charles Coburn, Willie Best, Frances Mercer, and Hattie McDaniel NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster, which we have never auctioned before! Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfold and some separation and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with a 2" vertical tear in the bottom of the large image's chin, going down to the green background below, and a matching vertical tear in the left of the middle fold in the green background. It had a pinhole in the eye of the figure at lower right and one in her chest. It had two small areas of paper loss above and below the "R" of "ROGERS". It had some stains, pinholes, and tears in the bottom border. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
