Soon a legend."; "From the California gold fields - to the Louisiana bayous, he drank and killed and loved and never forgot how to hate!"; "based on the character in 'The Carpetbaggers' created by Harold Robbins", "Screen story and screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; this was a "prequel" to the earlier movie, with McQueen playing a younger version of the character memorably played by Alan Ladd) starring Steve McQueen (in the title role as Nevada Smith), Karl Malden, Brian Keith, Arthur Kennedy, Suzanne Pleshette, Raf Vallone, Janet Margolin, Howard da Silva, Pat Hingle, and Martin Landau NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare 1960s double-sided poster. This poster was one of a small group of such double-sided posters that were found at one time. Other than this small group, I have never seen any of these 1960s double-sided posters before. Included in the group that was found was a "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which was auctioned in London, and sold for a HUGE amount of money! It appears that it was some sort of experiment that was tried in the 1960s and then abandoned, and not used again until the 1990s, when movie posters were sometimes made in double-sided versions (for use in light boxes). Note that the image on the reverse of this poster was a mirror image of the image on the front, and because a previous owner did not put a collectible value on the fact that the poster was double-sided, he had the poster linenbacked, because it had many border and fold defects. So you can't tell that the poster is double-sided, but we know that it was! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Condition: good to very good. The poster had many creases, scuffs, tiny tears, and some surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines and some creases, tears, and pinholes around the edges, with pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
