An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" [15 x 20 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Harpo Marx (born Adolph Marx) was an actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He is best remembered as the Marx Brothers lovable mute (he never spoke in any of the movies!) and for his curly red hair, top hat, and horn. He acquired his nickname because he was an expert harpist, which he would play in many of his movies. Some of his movies include: Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera, Horse Feathers, A Day at the Races, Animal Crackers, and Monkey Business. Harpo passed away in 1964 at the age of 75. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Harpo Marx! Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" [15 x 20 cm]. Note that this still came from the estate of Jane Isbell (who was a child actress of the 1930s, and never "hit it big", but was in many movies and was an understudy for Ann Gillis, who played Little Orphan Annie. Our consignor purchased this from Miss Isbell's estate after she passed away (apparently, her parents got her a tryout in the movie Horse Feathers in 1932, and while on the set, Harpo let them take a picture of him holding the 4 year old girl, and he signed and dated it for them afterwards). Miss Isbell obviously treasured this still, and it was glued to her scrapbook. Our consignor does not have a "certificate of authenticity", but we believe it to surely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good. The still was neatly trimmed around the edges. The inscription and signature have slightly smudged, but it is still quite readable (see our image). The still was once glued to an album page, and when it was removed, it left remnants from the page and glue stains on the back, but they have no effect on the front. Learn More about condition grades
