He is most famous for creating The Rocketeer comic book (and film character), and for his pin-up style illustrations, especially of model Bettie Page. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 52 from hairy cell leukemia. Artist: Mike Grell Important Added Info: Note that this book has been personally autographed (signed) by the illustrator/author, Dave Stevens (he hand wrote "FOR DAN, WITH THANKS! DAVE STEVENS" on the top of the back cover, giving it to our consignor, who has been a friend of Mr. Stevens since he first started illustrating. Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". We provide images of the comic book covers, plus 2 interior 2-page spreads, which should allow you to get a sense of the condition of this comic book. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
