An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Lobby Card #2 (LC; measures 8 1/4" x 11" [21 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Die Weisse Holle vom Piz Palu (released in the U.S. in 1930 as "The White Hell of Pitz Palu"), the 1929 Arnold Fanck (billed as "Arnold Fauck") & G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) silent German mountain climbing search melodrama starring Leni Riefenstahl, Gustav Diessl, Ernst Petersen, Ernst Udet, and Mizzi Goetzel. Note that some of the action mountain climbing footage from this movie was re-used in several movies by Universal, most impressively in the serial "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe". Note that Arnold Fanck was a German director who loved skiing and made many "mountain films" that included skiing sequences. In this movie, he was teamed with one of the greatest directors of all time, G.W. Pabst! Also note that this was a silent movie made in 1929 and released in Germany in Austria at that time. In 1930, a dubbed sound version was released in the U.S., and in December 1935, a new "sound version" was given a major re-release in Germany (and it was released in Austria the following year). Important Added Info: Note that we are calling this a "lobby card", because unlike deluxe German stills from this period, which are on a glossy stock, this lobby card is on a matte finish stock (incredibly similar to that of U.S. lobby cards of this period). Note that this is a "country of origin" lobby card for this German movie! Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 8 1/4" x 11" [21 x 28 cm]. Condition: good to very good. Part of the blank borders have been trimmed off (we don't know what the lobby card originally measured, but it appears that only blank white paper is affected).
