An Original Vintage Autographed Tribute Envelope with First Day of Issue Stamp (measures 3 1/2" x 6 1/2") (Learn More) Bela Lugosi was one of the top two horror actors from the 1930s (along with Boris Karloff) in movies such as Dracula, Island of Lost Souls, The Wolf Man, The Body Snatcher, and the Black Cat. His portrayal of Dracula was so memorable, that it caused movie makers to only want him to play similar roles, and in the minds of many horror fans, there is no other Dracula BUT Bela Lugosi! Note that Mr. Lugosi was born in what was then Austria-Hungary, but is now Romania. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is a first day of issue envelope for the 50th Anniversary of Motion Pictures stamp) has been personally autographed (signed) by Bela Lugosi! It was well known that Bela Lugosi loved stamp collecting (especially stamps from his native Hungary), and he would often show some of his collection to fans. This is a first day stamp that was canceled on October 31, 1944 (Halloween!), and Mr. Lugosi signed the lower left of the envelope. Someone added a small reproduced image of him above the signature. Included with the first day cover are four reproduced photos of Lugosi with his stamps. Note that this item was consigned by a major horror collector who attended many collectible shows and obtained autographs at shows and through the mail, and we are 100% certain his items are authentic! As is true of all the signed items we auction, we give every buyer of a signed item 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: very good. There are some faint smudges and creases around the edges of the envelope, and some creases and a tiny stain on the reproduced photo on the envelope. The envelope is slightly attached to the back, and there is a piece of board within the envelope (to keep it stiff and to keep it from getting damaged). This will certainly make a wonderful display on the new owner's wall. Learn More about condition grades
