(released in India as "The Invisible Terror"), the 1941 John English & William Witney detective mystery crime action serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters"; "Based on cartoon strip by Chester Gould"; in this one, Dick Tracy battles a mysterious gangster called "The Ghost", who has the power to make himself invisible) starring Ralph Byrd (in the title role as Dick Tracy), Ralph Morgan, Jan Wiley, John Davidson (as Lucifer), Kenneth Harlan, Michael Owen, C. Montague Shaw, Anthony Warde, and Forrest Taylor. Note that this was the last Dick Tracy serial! It is surprising that it took six years for it to reach the screen in 1937's "Dick Tracy", but once it did, it proved very popular and was followed by three more serials over the next four years, and then after a four year break, the first Dick Tracy feature film was released, which again proved extremely popular, and there were three sequels to that. There were animated cartoons on TV in the 1950s and in 1990, Warren Beatty made a live action movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this a rare complete set of chapter 13 lobby cards for this movie! We have only auctioned ONE scene card from this chapter in all of our years of auctioning. For the vast majority of serials (especially ones based on famous comic strips) the sets of lobby cards were "broken up" and sold by the card many years ago, and it is exceptionally rare to find an intact complete set, and this one is generally in really nice condition. Condition: very good. The card with Byrd seated at left has a few faint stains on back but they are not very noticeable from the front whatsoever. The card with Byrd fighting Lucifer has a few tiny pinholes at upper and lower center. The card with Byrd holding the airplane has tiny paper loss in the upper right blank border. These few minor defects affect only three cards and the other cards in the rare complete set (including the title card) are in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
