Date Sold 2/13/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 29 1/2" x 39 1/4" [75 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Howard Hawks' Rio Bravo, the classic 1959 Howard Hawks romantic cowboy western ("You've seen nothing like 'em together...and in the heat and hate of Rio Bravo nothing can tear 'em apart!"; "They caught all hell - and hurled it back - at Rio Bravo!"; "...and Dean and Ricky sing too! 'My Rifle, My Pony and Me' 'Rio Bravo' 'Cindy'"; "Hear Dean and Ricky Sing..."; "John Wayne The big guy with the battered hat... and Dean Martin the ragged woman-wrecked castoff called Dude... and Ricky Nelson the rockin' baby-faced gunfisted kid... And time was running out through bullet holes at 'Rio Bravo'"; "Dean and Ricky sing, too!"; about a western town where the sheriff arrests the son of the richest man in town, and the family tries to break him out, and the sheriff only has an old man, a drunk, and a teenager to back him up!) starring John Wayne ("The big guy with the battered hat..."; as John T. Chance), Dean Martin ("Dude - the wreckage piled up by a fast woman..."; "the ragged woman-wrecked castoff called Dude..."), Ricky Nelson ("The rockin' baby-faced gunfisted Kid..."; as Colorado), Angie Dickinson ("Feathers.. The one girl who could give the big guy a hard time..."; as a female professional poker player!), Walter Brennan ("Old Stumpy... no teeth... one leg... but all the rest was guts..."; Brennan really stole the show in this movie!), Ward Bond ("Wheeler... a chunk of solid granite now crumbling with age..."), John Russell (billed as "John 'Lawman' Russell"; "Burdette... he was the knife poised at the throat of Rio Bravo..."), Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez, and Estelita Rodriguez. Note that many people consider this to be virtually a "perfect" western, and it is surely one of the best John Wayne movies there is! Also note that in 1967, Howard Hawks and John Wayne virtually remade this movie as "El Dorado", with Robert Mitchum and James Caan replacing Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson, but that movie pales in comparison to this one. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen this poster before. It was printed on a brown paper that is similar to the paper used for shopping bags! We believe it dates from the 1960s, but that is a guess. It also measures 29 1/2" x 39 1/2" [75 x 100 cm], not 27" x 41". If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. There is a censor stamp at lower right (see our image). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well! Learn More about condition grades
