An Original Vintage Folded World War II Recruiting Poster (measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Arise Americans, the 1941 World War II (WWII) recruitment poster ("Your country and your liberty are in grave danger -- protect them now by joining the-- United States Navy or the U.S. Naval Reserve.") and featuring McClelland Barclay art of a sailor using a wrench on a piece of equipment while surrounded by a frame of red, white and blue with stars. (Barclay is best remembered as a pin-up artist, but he did recruiting posters for both World War I and World War II, and sadly, he was in the Naval Reserve and on a torpedoed ship in 1942, and was killed). Artist: McClelland Barclay, USNR Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster was once partially hand-folded across the middle and partially hand-folded down the right one-third, and there are many creases along those folds, with some tiny bits of surface paper loss in a few small areas. There are some creases and scuffs scattered throughout the image. There is a 1" tear in the left of the bottom border and it has a piece of clear tape on the back and some smaller tears in the right of the bottom border, with a pinhole in each corner.
