Murnau German silent good-vs-evil fantasy melodrama ("An UFA Production"; based on the play by Johann Wolfgang Goethe; about the Devil offering an aging chemist success, money, youth, and love, in return for his soul) starring Gosta Ekman (in the title role as Faust), Emil Jannings (as Mephistopholes), Camilla Horn, Frida Richard, William Dieterle, and Hanna Ralph NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tiny yellow stains in the top of the hair of the girl, with some tiny dot stains in a line to the right of that in the background area. There were some tiny dot stains scattered in the image and some pinholes, creases, smudges, and tears around the edges of the card. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer left alone the tiny dot stains, and the yellow stains described above (but they are truthfully not very noticeable or distracting, and any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the card).
